World of Warcraft Leveling Guide: Level up fast from 1-60

Are you thinking about diving into Dragonflight and looking for a WoW leveling guide? The maximum level cap has been raised to 70, but you’ll need to hit level 60 first before you can even consider venturing to the Dragon Isles.
Luckily, Shadowlands has completely revamped the leveling experience and the second phase of the Dragonflight pre-patch has extended the new system to allow characters to level up to 60.

With this new system, you get to choose which content you want to play through to reach level 60. While this system was introduced two years ago with Shadowlands, if you’re just getting back into the game to embark on your Dragon Isles adventure, this WoW leveling guide will show you the most effective way to reach level 60.

WoW leveling guide: How to Level Up fast from 1-60?

If you’re starting a new character in WoW, you’ll begin at level one if you’re choosing from the basic array of races.
However, if you opt for an allied race, you’ll start at level 10, but you’ll need to have completed a specific quest line for that race and reached the max level with another character.
For first-time WoW players, you’ll automatically be sent to Exile’s Reach, which is a great starting experience that takes place on a secluded island.
If you’ve already leveled up other characters, you can choose between Exile’s Reach and the traditional leveling area for your new character’s race.
It’s recommended to choose Exile’s Reach as it’s a well-paced and engaging adventure that condenses ten levels into just a few hours of gameplay.

Which Expansion should I choose in World of Warcraft?

When it comes to choosing an expansion to level in, it all depends on what you’re looking for. Starting at level 10, you’ll have to ride on a slow ground-mount until you reach level 20 and learn the epic riding skill. Flying becomes available at level 30, and you won’t need any special attunements to access any expansion zones.

If you want to level quickly, Warlords of Draenor or Legion are great options because they have high quest density, which means you won’t have to travel far and can level up faster. Legion is also a great expansion in terms of story and zone design. However, Battle for Azeroth is not too bad either when it comes to quest density, especially in the Drustvar zone for Alliance and Nazmir for Horde, and it offers modern quest mechanics and story integration.

If you’re more interested in immersing yourself in the story and taking your time to level up, Wrath of the Lich King is a great option because it has some of the best lore in the game. But be warned, it can be slow to level up in this expansion. Another underrated option is Mists of Pandaria, which has a laid-back leveling style and easygoing quest progression that matches the Pandaren race it introduced.

On the other hand, The Burning Crusade and Cataclysm are not recommended unless you have a nostalgic attachment to them from your first time playing WoW. They involve a lot of running, disjointed storylines, and outdated mechanics. To give you an idea, leveling through The Burning Crusade takes twice as long as leveling through Warlords. Most expansions (except The Burning Crusade) will take you around 16 to 20 hours to complete if you’re not rushing through them.

Dungeons or Quests: Which should I choose for leveling up fast?

Did you know that leveling up by running dungeons is still a viable option instead of questing? You can gain two to three levels per dungeon, depending on the quests you complete. However, there are two things to keep in mind. Firstly, if you’re not a tank or healer, you may need to team up with someone who is as queues for damage players can be quite lengthy.

Secondly, be careful when choosing the expansion to level in as you’ll be limited to dungeons from that expansion. Some dungeons offer quests with better experience points, while others do not. So, it’s best to jump around different expansions that offer dungeon quests to maximize your experience. Avoid leveling in Warlords of Draenor, Legion, and Battle for Azeroth as they don’t offer many, if any, quests in leveling dungeons. Also, if you’re not party-syncing with other players, keep this in mind!

If you want to level up quickly in World of Warcraft, teaming up with other players is one of the best ways to do it. You can use the Party Sync feature in the game to sync up quests and run dungeons together. Just make sure you add a new player to the group from time to time and sync up with them to repeat dungeons and get the full experience. To use Party Sync, simply open your quest log and click the button in the lower right corner.

Keep in mind that Party Sync can be a bit buggy, so make sure you un-sync before inviting a new player to the group. Also, check that everyone is out of instances, vehicles, flight paths, and other scenarios that may keep them busy before re-syncing. However, if you’re willing to deal with the quirks, Party Sync can be a quick and enjoyable way to level up with friends. After all, isn’t that what MMOs like World of Warcraft are all about?

Heirlooms and leveling speed items

Heirlooms were recently overhauled, no longer providing bonus experience while leveling. Instead, they offer other combat and quality of life bonuses. Because they level with you, it’s a convenient way to avoid having to examine or replace gear. Some leveling items still work in the expansion where they were originally collected, but they are typically only good for secondary (alt) characters. Draught of Ten Lands, for instance, works in Battle for Azeroth, but requires you to have a maximum-level main character to buy them.
